主要聚焦于低维纳米材料的制备,二氧化碳光/电催化转化及催化反应机理的理论研究,并且取得了一系列开创性的研究成果:设计开发了多种二维超薄催化剂体系,极大地丰富了材料数据库;提出了多种基于红外光驱动的二维材料催化体系,将光催化二氧化碳还原反应扩展至低能的红外光区;提出的双活性位点材料体系实现了对特定产物的高选择性转化,对于新型催化剂的设计及调控二氧化碳催化产物的选择性具有重大指导意义。近年以第一作者,通讯作者或共同一作在Nature Energy, Nat. Commun. (×8), J. Am. Chem. Soc. (×7), Joule (×2), Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (×9), Adv. Mater. (×3), PNAS等国际权威学术期刊发表论文45篇,其中高被引14篇;共参与论文82篇,引用>10300次,h因子为41。RSC书籍1章;授权专利1项。
